Flexibility 3 Free Wordpress Theme Review – New Version So Flexible

A new version of an amazing free Wordpress theme has just been released by Ryan Grabenstein. The Flexibility 3 theme takes the creativity of the previous version, Flexibility 2, to a whole new level!

Ryan says that this new version is easier to use making it much faster for you to customize and the theme now has many new graphics, images and optional settings for complete configuration.

And you can change pretty much everything about what is display on your blog when using this theme, by simply clicking on one or more of all the settings in the theme’s options area. This really is the most configurable theme out there and it very easy to do. No coding required – just a click of the mouse!

Flexibility 3 really does live up to it’s name by being totally flexible, as the only limit is your creativity when if it comes to building websites and blogs. Who needs Dreamweaver or XSite Pro etc when you can build sites with Wordpress and the Flexibility 3 theme?

Really, you can do anything you want with this theme!

WordPress 3.0 New Version Features And Changes Summary

WordPress 3.0 is a new version and it has just been released. As this is a major release there are new features including a brand new Default Wordpress Theme called TwentyTen, the ability to Customize Post Types and an excellent new Menu Manager.

Post Types Customization

Up to now and by default WordPress has always enabled you to publish two types of content within a blog. These we recognize as blog Posts and Pages. Now in Wordpress 3.0 you are able to define your own extra content types and also give them their own attributes. So now users can create any kind of content they want!

New “TwentyTen” Default Theme

Long overdue, the new default 2010 theme features a new cleaner and bolder design than before and also brings in some useful facilities that are not seen in many other themes. For non-coders there are some very useful things you can do with this theme without any coding at all. These include the ability to easily change your blog’s header image in the theme (and it comes with some defaults) as well as being able to quickly change the background image for the site too.

How To Use The Wordpress Image Editor To Change Images in 2.9

Version Wordpress 2.9 now has a built-in image editor, which allows you to do stuff with your uploaded images and includes what you would expect from basic image editing fuctionality, including crop, edit, rotate and flip, as well as scale your images or photos to show them off in exactly the way you want. Not rocket science, but a needed addition!

Wordpress say that:

“This is the first wave of our many planned media handling improvements!”

This is great as this is one part of this blogging software that has needed some improvement for some time now.

Being able to manipulate images after loading them up into the media gallery, instead of before in other photo or image editing software, is a great bonus and should be a real time saver.

At Last Real Wordpress Image Editing!

This cool new functionality is going to be very useful! You can add images using the post / page editor or directly using the Media option in the menu options on the left of your Wordpress admin dashboard. Under Media you will find two more options: Library and Add New.

The first will take you to the Wordpress media library for your site, where you will see all the images, photos and other media you have already loaded listed for you. Here you can pick an image to edit or work on. The second will allow you to add new images now to the library.

Code For Automatic Copyright Year Change In Wordpress Theme Footer

This time of year one task that some of us might have to do is to change the year on our Copyright notice in the footer of our Wordpress Theme. Some themes will already have this code installed, especially premium themes that you will have had to pay for.

But in many cases, when using a free theme or older Wordpress theme you may find that the code to do this is not included and that you have to manually change the year yourself.

Don’t Do It Manually – Make It Automatic!

eg: HOW TO CHANGE 2009 TO 2010 AUTOMATICALLY

It’s easy to do but if you have several blogs or Wordpress sites it’s a lot better if your code does the Copyright year change for you automatically.

Changing the year manually just requires using the Wordpress Theme editor in the admin dashboard to change the code by replacing the previous year value with the current year value.

How To Make A Wordpress Page Your Home Page And Keep The Blog Posts

By default when you first install Wordpress and add your chosen theme you will have a Home Page that displays your most recent Blog Posts. This is dynamic and changes every time to display new posts as you add them.

You can control how many posts are shown by the changing the “Blog pages show at most” value in the Reading Settings in your Wordpress admin dashboard. In addition if you don’t want to show full posts you can add the More tag in each post from within the post editor (visual or html) to control how much of each post is displayed.

But what if you don’t want posts displayed on your home page.

What do you do?

How To Change Your Home Page In Wordpress!

Well fortunately this is quite simple to change from Wordpress admin, but may not be obvious until you try it out for yourself. You have the facility to set a different page that you create as the home page for your Wordpress site or blog.

In addition you can also set another page, which you also create, as the Blog page of your website, where all your blog posts will be displayed, just as they were originally on the home page.
