Anyone who builds their own website or blog will definitely want to learn quickly how to customize Wordpress to style their site and make it how they want it to look. There are some fairly basic things that you can do quickly to turn any Wordpress theme into something more customized and personal.
Change the Theme Header
This is often what most Wordpress site owners will want to do first as this has the greatest impact on how the site will look. By changing the header image at the top of the page for the Wordpress theme that you are using for your website or blog you will instantly change the look and feel of the site and make it more personalized.
Remember that it is the theme that you are changing and if you select a different theme in the future then the header image you see on your site will also change to that which is provided with the new theme.
Changing the image for your Wordpress theme header can be both dramatic and essential in many cases and if you are building your new Wordpress site for you business then getting the branding right is much easier to do with the right images in the header area of your site.
There some very easy ways to do this and some hard ones too. Most modern themes, especially premium Wordpress themes that you have to pay for, will usually have a Theme Options page under the Appearance option in the Wordpress administrators dashboard, where you can quickly go to load your own image or select one of the different ones that are supplied with the theme. The current default Wordpress theme Twenty Eleven is a good example of this.

If you want to change the character font size or the style of your text in your Wordpress posts and pages you are restricted to what is available to you in the Post or Pages Editor.
Well this is what you might think, but you can actually use basic standard html to change the styling and font sizing of any characters in your text and to be honest once you know the right html code to use it is very easy to do.
How To Use Text Formatting To Create Different Sized Headings
Most of you content styling can be done with the applying what is available in the VISUAL tab of the post and page editors. For sizing text you ca use the Format drop-down menu in the menu bar at the top of the editor where is says PARAGRAPH.
When you click the drop down it will also show you different HEADING sizes, such as Heading 1, H2 ,H3 etc with H1 being the biggest text character size down to smallest at H6. I am referring to these heading sizes as H1, H2 etc as that is the html markup code that these Headings are in the source code of your posts and pages.
If you click on the HTML tab you will see all the html code for your post or page and when you look for text with a heading format applied to it you will see code like <h1>My Heading</h1>, where <h1> and </h1> is the html code tags required to make the text “My Heading” into Heading 1 size.

WordPress 3.0 is a new version and it has just been released. As this is a major release there are new features including a brand new Default Wordpress Theme called TwentyTen, the ability to Customize Post Types and an excellent new Menu Manager.
Post Types Customization
Up to now and by default WordPress has always enabled you to publish two types of content within a blog. These we recognize as blog Posts and Pages. Now in Wordpress 3.0 you are able to define your own extra content types and also give them their own attributes. So now users can create any kind of content they want!
New “TwentyTen” Default Theme
Long overdue, the new default 2010 theme features a new cleaner and bolder design than before and also brings in some useful facilities that are not seen in many other themes. For non-coders there are some very useful things you can do with this theme without any coding at all. These include the ability to easily change your blog’s header image in the theme (and it comes with some defaults) as well as being able to quickly change the background image for the site too.

If you are serious about finding the best method for protecting the data in your blog then you should consider the Online Backup for WordPress Plugin, which has just been released by Backup Technology.
This backup plugin for Wordpress is different than other plugins that have previoulsy been release to perform this function in that it has the facility to store your backup file, in encrypted format for better protection, on a remote server at Backup Technology.
This is off-site backup at it’s best as it is all about an online backup facility that you control from your Wordpress admin dashboard.
You can download the plugin for free and currently when you create an account with Backup Technology they will provide 50 MB of free space on their secure servers for your backup files and when your account runs out of space then the older backups will get deleted to make space for the newer backups.
