How to Quickly Install Wordpress with cPanel and Fantastico

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Installing Wordpress really is very easy and the easiest way to do it is if you have a Wordpress web hosting account that provides cPanel and Fantastico, such as what you can get at HostGator. If you have this then it is almost a one-click install process. So easy!

In this article I will show you just how easy this really is. I am assuming that you have already bought your domain name, switched the name servers for your domain to your webhost account and that your domain is now active and ready to use at your web host.

You will also need to have the username and password to your website’s cPanel login page ready to use.

Easy 5 Minute WordPress Installation

[1] Login to your cPanel account for you website, and if you don’t know how to get to the cPanel login page just type yourdomain.com/cpanel into the url box of your browser and press return.

[2] After you login successfully just scroll down the page until you see the Fantastico Deluxe icon and then click on it.

[3] On the Fanastico page look down the menu on the left and click on Wordpress

[4] You are now ready to do the Wordpress Installation for your site.

[5] Before going further you need to make a decision.

Do you want to install Wordpress in the root, which means your Home Page will be part of Wordpress or do you just want to add Wordpress as a blog in a sub-folder on an existing non-Wordpress website?

Hopfully you already know what you want to do.

[6] Click on the New Installation link (dark blue) just above the disk space requirement at the bottom.

[7] You now need to fill in some details on the form displayed

[8] Just fill in the fields in the form as requested (in this example the installation is in the root).

Install on Domain – the domain name will be displayed by default

Install in Directory – leave blank for a root install or give a folder name for and add-on blog

Admin Access Data – add a secure user name and password for the admin account (do not use admin)

Base Configuration – enter your email address at least, and the other fields are optional

Click on INSTALL WORDPRESS

[9] You will then see the following

[10] Click on FINISH INSTALLATION to install Wordpress and display this information…

ITS DONE!

Wordpress has been installed!

Send yourself a congratulations email using the Send E-Mail form if you want.

[11] Go to your new website in your web browser and you will see the default Worpress theme installed

[12] Enter yourdomain.com/wp-admin in your browser to go to the Wordpress admin logon page for your website, login with the user name and password you set up for admin previously.

You are now ready to post content to your new Wordpress site via the DashBoard.

EASY OR WHAT ?

.

Let the journey begin…
