What a great site! I recently built a site in WP and managed to figure out a lot of stuff on my own but I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to take an official class. The reason? I would like to be able to style my site better. Right now the way word press is set up all of the themes put all the cool functionality on the blog page. I want it on my landing page. I suppose I could rename my pages so my blog page is my landing page? OR I am thinking I could just buy a fancy theme, like PageLines and it would cover these issues and provide customer service so if I wanted to tweak anything I could.
I’m really trying to determine if it make more sense for someone like me to just buy an out of the box theme that works almost exactly like I want it to, or does it make sense to get more training and manipulate existing themes? I’ve heard pros and cons for both. I run a small business helping others revamp their websites, work on SEO, and incorporate social media into their markeitng.

If you find a theme that already works how you want it to then that has to be the best way to go, even if you have to pay for the theme – always make your life easier if possible…
Just came across your site today, and I enjoyed reading it. I am fairly new to Wordpress and have been working on creating a site. I have been able to do a few things and have a number of helpful plugins. Somethings I have been able to figure out and others it seems to take days..ouch!.
I am trying to set up a site where I can eventully make some money and duplicate it and so on. Like many others I am not working and need to make money, I just need a some help every now and than, all of this stuff canbe overwhelming.
My question is I want to remove the from the bottom of my homepage- posted in category/leave a reply. I was able to remove the date and posted from the top but not this.
What is the easiest way to remove it. Once again thank you for help in advance.

So perhaps you could clarify this a bit more – I expect that you will need to change the theme code to do what you want though…

Ok – both the “posted in category” and “leave a comment” are coded in to your theme, although you may be able to stop the “leave a comment” text appearing by disallowing comments for that page or post. The “posted in category” will need probably need a code change in the theme to stop it appearing. If you removed the “date” and “posted” from the theme by changing the code then this is just the same sort of editing procedure. You may just need to look harder at the code to find these others. Hope that helps!
