Do Not Upgrade Without Doing These Checks!
Before you upgrade to Wordpress 2.7 there are some essential tasks you must perform before you decide to take the plunge and do the upgrade.

Wordpress 2.7 is a major new release with a brand new Dashboard in the administrators area.
Because of these big changes there is a good chance that any older themes or plugins, or even recent ones for that matter, may not have been upgraded to be compatible with the new 2.7 version of Wordpress. And the really old ones may now be unsupported and never be upgraded.
The first things you should do is upgrade all your Wordpress Plugins and the Wordpress Theme that you use on your site to their latest versions, what ever they might be.
Upgrade Your Wordpress Theme and Plugins to Their Latest Versions
Upgrade your theme first and check that your site is still working ok. If not get in touch with the support person for your theme and get it working before moving on.
If your theme works fine then you should upgrade any plugins that are not currently running the latest version.
However, make sure that you do this one plugin at a time and test your web site for each plugin before moving on to the next. This way if your site stops working or starts showing errors then you will know, which plugin is causing the problem and you take appropriate action to get it fixed.
Check That Your Theme and Plugins will Work with Wordpress 2.7 First!
You need to do some research with the developers of your Wordpress theme and plugins to make sure that they are all compatible with Wordpress 2.7 – It is quite likely that some, especially the older ones, may not be.
Sometimes it make take just a little while for the developers to test their theme or plugin with 2.7 and make the necessary chages to make them compatible. In which case you will have to wait for them to get their act into gear and do this work before you can upgrade.
If you are really keen to upgrade them you could find a different but compatible theme while waiting and for incompatible plugins just deactivate them until the new ones are ready.
Checking out Wordpress resources to help you find which Themes and Plugins are compatible with Wordpress 2.7 maybe a little tedious, but it’s whole lot better than doing the upgrade and then finding that nothing works or that errors occur on your site.
Once you have done all this work you will be confident to go ahead with the Wordpress 2.7 Upgrade and get all the new features and benefits that it offers.

Has anyone put together a list for 2.8.4……and what is compatible?
Thanks,

David – Wordpress 2.8.4 was a Security Release to fix some known problems -”Yesterday a vulnerability was discovered: a specially crafted URL could be requested that would allow an attacker to bypass a security check to verify a user requested a password reset…” Read this post at Wordpress from more information:
